Storm Drain Maintenance for Denver Properties
An independent, licensed plumbing contractor. Not affiliated with Denver Water or the City and County of Denver.
Storm drain maintenance is scheduled inspection and cleaning of a private storm system so that it still has full capacity when a real storm arrives. It is the cheapest work in this silo, and the reason it matters is that storm drainage fails silently: nothing tells you the line is half full until the day the water has nowhere to go.
- Scheduled basin and line cleaning.
- Interval set by what your system actually collects.
- Annual camera check on problem runs.
- Residential, HOA, and commercial sites.
- Documented condition over time.

Why Does Storm Drainage Need Ongoing Maintenance?
Because it collects material by design. A storm system's job is to take surface water, and surface water carries whatever is on the surface. Every storm deposits a little more sediment in the flattest part of the run, and none of it leaves on its own.
The other reason is that the consequence of failure is water damage rather than inconvenience. A blocked sanitary line backs up into a fixture. A blocked storm line puts water against a foundation, into a window well, or across a parking area, and those are damage events rather than service calls.
(720) 935-6221Properties that benefit most from a schedule
- Sites with mature deciduous trees over the drainage.
- Properties with gravel or decomposed granite beds near grates.
- Below-grade entries, window wells, and areaways.
- Commercial lots where ponding blocks access or parking.
- HOA-managed common area drainage with shared liability.
- Any system that has already flooded once.

How We Diagnose It
How We Set a Realistic Maintenance Interval
The first visit is a survey and a clean, and it produces a number: how much material came out and how far along the run it had travelled. That measurement, not a generic annual recommendation, sets the interval.
After that we track it. A system producing the same volume each visit is on the right schedule. A system producing more each time has a source problem upstream, usually an unstabilised bed or a broken section admitting soil, and fixing that source is cheaper than cleaning forever.
What ongoing maintenance covers
- Basin and sump clearing.
- Line cleaning on the runs that accumulate.
- Discharge point verification.
- Periodic camera check on known problem sections.
- A written record of condition over time.
How a Maintenance Programme Works
- 1
Baseline survey
Camera the system, map it, clean it, and record how much material came out and from where.
- 2
Set the interval
Frequency based on measured accumulation and on the consequence if that particular run fails.
- 3
Service visits
Basins, runs, and discharge cleared on schedule, with a short written record each time.
- 4
Escalate what recurs
Where a section keeps loading, we stop cleaning it and price the correction instead.

What Denver Customers Say About Working With Us
“Prompt service and worked well into the night to restore service due to hard soil. And did their best to prevent large scars to the yard”
“Denver Water And Sewer did an excellent job replacing my sewer lines. Trevor and his crew are extremely competent, honest, professional and prompt.”
“Denver Sewer and Water was a great experience. We had been out of water due to a water main leak into the house for 2 weeks. They came out, gave a go”
What Maintenance Costs Against What It Prevents
A maintenance visit is priced on system size, number of basins, and run length, and it is a small, predictable number. The comparison worth making is not against doing nothing, it is against one flooded basement or one storm event that shut a commercial lot.
We do not sell a schedule to a property that does not need one. If your baseline survey shows a system that stays clean, we will tell you to check it every few years and leave it alone.
